The BYU Cougars are heading into the Sweet 16 of the men's NCAA Division 1 tournament for the first time since 1981.  You can thank most of that success to Capital Region native Jimmer Fredette who continues to be BYU's and the Nations top scorer.  He dropped 34 points on Gonzaga last night in BYU's  89-67 victory.

It's always fun to watch a team like BYU have success in the tourny because most of the time it's run by all big names like UCONN, Duke, North Carolina and Ohio State.  This year though, BYU is a big threat.  Now they are a 3 seed, but they are a small school from a weak division and the fact that they are rolling the way they are is amazing. Jimmer was 7-12 from behind the 3pt line last night, and if he continues to score big like that, I would be getting very nervous.

Jimmer is even making some big fans.  Derrick Rose, point guard for the Chicago Bulls had some very nice things to say about Jimmer and the way he is currently leading his team.

I love watching him play. He is not intimidated by anyone.

Next up for the BYU Cougars are the 2 seeded Florida Gators who are coming off a big win over UCLA.  It will be a very exciting game and you can be sure that all of us here on Q103 will be rooting for our home town guy!  Go get 'em Jimmer!
