Last night, five bands performed at Bogie's of Albany and local quartet Tamerlane opened it all up. I first met them at last year's Battle of the Bands and they have only gotten better since. Check out the photos after the jump.

Tamerlane is made up of vocalist Chris, guitarist Mike, bassist Mario and drummer Kevin. They've only been around about a year or so but already have a great sense of cohesion and promise that almost led them to open up for Godsmack last year. Front man Chris is a natural-born leader- though he doesn't look the "typical part" of a rock band singer, he brings everything he has into his vocals and music and resonates it out onto the crowd, literally. He loves to get off the stage and rock out with his fans as he encourages them to sing along and cheer. He's different and I like that. You wouldn't walk down the street and think he looks like a musician, so it's quite refreshing and surprising when he opens his mouth and gets into his element. I hope to see great things come for the group.

Their set list was as follows:

  • "Lose Control"
  • "My Words"
  • "Stand Over You"
  • "All I Ask"
  • "Stay"
  • "My Everything"
  • "Break
