The Jane's Addiction-Los Angeles love affair will spill over into the 2014 Sunset Strip Music Festival, where the band has been chosen as the honorees for this year's music event.

Organizers have revealed that the band will receive the Elmer Valentine Award, annually given to those who have made an impact on the legacy of the famous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Calif. They join such past winners of the honor as The Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, Joan Jett, Motley Crue and Slash. The initial honorees in 2008 were Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine, the founders of the Whisky-A-Go-Go, The Roxy and the Rainbow Bar & Grill -- all Sunset Strip landmarks.

The band will be saluted during an invitation-only event taking place at the Sunset Strip House of Blues on Friday, Sept. 19 and they'll also headline the outdoor Sunset Strip Music Festival proceedings on Saturday, Sept. 20. The group will play their legendary 'Nothing's Shocking' album in its entirety for their performance.

"It all started for me back when my big brother used to tell me about The Strip, and about the amazing scene where artists like Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison blew people's minds by pioneering a new sound and influencing culture in a more exciting way than ever before. Complete with massive crowds from all over the world streaming through the streets and flocking to The Strip just trying to be part of it all," explained Jane's frontman Perry Farrell. "So when it came time for Jane's to record our first album we told Warner Brothers that before we could even release a studio record we had to make a live record on The Strip, and we even recorded it at The Roxy, because we knew that it had to embody that inspiration that came from the heart of that scene. We are very proud to come from this heritage and are truly honored by the Valentine Award."

In addition to Jane's Addiction, the Saturday festival will include sets by Failure, Crosses, The Birds of Satan, Beware of Darkness, Cold War Kids, Minus the Bear, Kaiser Chiefs, Nightmare and the Cat and Say Say. Meanwhile, the Sunday (Sept. 21) bill will be headlined by Empire of the Sun, with sets from Mayer Hawthorne, Iration, Big Data, Tove Lo, Big Freedia, We Came as Romans, Nostalghia and Fenech-Soler. And you can look for additional performers being names as the festival nears.
