Billboard is reporting that, as expected, Jack White‘s first solo album, ‘Blunderbuss,’ hits No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In its first week of release, Blunderbuss’ sold 138,000 copies, towering over Adele‘s ’21′ which, at 84,000 copies, sits at No. 2 this week. The critically acclaimed ‘Blunderbuss’ knocked Lionel Richie‘s ‘Tuskegee’ out of the top slot.

This marks the first time White has ever reached the top of the album charts, including all of his previous projects, the White Stripes, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. However, this is not White’s highest first-week sales total. In 2007, the White Stripes sold 223,000 copies of ‘Icky Thump,’ but finished behind Bon Jovi‘s ‘Lost Highway,’ which sold 292,000 copies.

Don’t expect this news to cause White to rest on his laurels. He is about to begin a major world tour and will somehow find time to compose his first-ever film score, for Disney’s screen adaptation of ‘The Lone Ranger,’ which is expected to be released in 2013.

And let’s not forget his other role as head of Third Man Records, which involves continually coming up with strange and innovative ways to market his newest releases.
