It hasn't been long since the U.S. was introduced to the Apple iPad, which pretty much did everything including all of your thinking. OK, not literally, but it really did a lot of stuff, too much even. Now, as if that's not enough, Apple's new iPad 2 is set to make its big debut much sooner than expected.

The new iPad 2 will be featured at a media event in San Francisco on March 2:

Apple has yet to officially confirm an event next week, but according to Swisher (All Things Digital), the company "seems poised" to take the wraps off the long-anticipated iPad 2, with the event "likely" to take place at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Rumors about the new product are being leaked and spread, such as that it's lighter and thinner, will have at least one camera, an improved processor and more RAM.

No matter how advanced this technological marvel might be, there's no stopping or preventing its competition. Similar pads such as the Motorola Xoom, the Android-powered LG G-Slate, RIM's BlackBerry Playbook and the WebOS-powered Touchpad from HP will all be fighting for the number one spot. I've never even heard of or know what these other devices are, so my guess is that Apple's device might take the lead due to how many people already own an iPad along with other Apple products, and by word of mouth as well.

The story comes just hours after a flurry of rumors that the next-generation iPad had been delayed, with major news outlets eventually backtracking on the claim Monday.

What do you think? Will you be getting one of these, or are you like me and avoid all of these crazy gadgets? Why spend all of your money when in a year it will be "out-dated" and you'll need to get the iPad 3? I'm fine with my three-year-old computer and my basic texting phone thank you.
