If you don’t drink, then kudos to you, but if you’re an average to heavy drinker than you may want to consider how much of your time is spent in this state. There hasn’t been an official study for Americans yet, but there are some stats for the English. Over there they estimate that the average drinker spends more than 5 years of his or her life hungover. (Perhaps some dental structures cause them to drink a little more alcohol than us to get in the mood.) I would imagine that the numbers are somewhat close though. So what do you think? Does that sound like a lot of time wasted? I guess that depends on how bad the hangovers are. If you’re talking about the kind that keep you in bed or useless for 2 days, then that’s awful way to spend 5 years. But if you’re just talking about having a little haze and perhaps even feeling a little giddy after you’ve had your coffee, than it doesn’t seem so bad. I think it comes down to how functional you are and then decide if that’s where you want to be. In my own experience, hangovers were almost fun when I was younger as it was kind of like walking around with a little buzz on. But as I’ve gotten older, it’s not as much fun and have had to learn curtail my drinking habits. It’s true what they say, your body changes. And if you want to be happy, you better learn to change too!
