Harmonix CEO Chimes in about Potential Dance Central and Rock Band Revivals
GameSpot has reported that at PAX East, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos mentioned how much the Rock Band and Dance Central franchises mean to the company and hinted at their potential returns with next-gen technology. This could possibly result in a Rock Band or Dance Central title to debut on the likes of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or Wii U.
"[The Dance Central and Rock Band franchises] are near and dear to our hearts and our minds. And we have grand plans to bring both of them with guns blazing at some point in the coming console cycle," Rigopulos teased.
Unfortunately, Harmonix's director of publishing and public relations, John T. Drake, set the record straight on Rigopulos' comments less than 24 hours after they were made, according to GameSpot. "No, we are not making Rock Band 4; it is not in development; it is not actively being produced in the studio. We have thoughts about what it could be and would love to put it out," Drake stated.
With the focus on Fantasia and the newly announced Record Run, it makes sense to keep the attention on those titles. Still it's nice to hear Harmonix still has hopes to revisit its fan-favorite franchises, even if it won't be for some time. Drake also teased Harmonix has yet another new game to reveal and that we should be hearing about it soon.
