Today (April 5) is National Burrito Day, which is celebrated each year on the first Thursday in April.

According to the National Day Calendar, National Burrito Day celebrates the Mexican dish that is a tortilla wrapped around meat, cheese, tomato, rice, beans, vegetables, and sauces. The burrito was introduced in the U.S. in the 1930's at the El Cholo Spanish Cafe in Los Angeles. It is recommended that to honor this special day, one should call some friends and go out for burritos or make some at home.

What are some of your favorite place to go for burritos in the Capital Region area? Personally, I gotta say I really like the big three: Chipotle, Moe's, and Taco Bell. I definitely plan on grabbing a burrito for dinner tonight and honoring this fine food item today. Use #NationalBurritoDay to post on social media and have a happy national burrito day!
