According to dailygazette.com, the Capital Region has seen a spike in gun sales since the recent mass shooting in Orlando.

Gun shop owners say that they see the increase in sales every time there's a mass murder incident.

The rise in gun sales locally has also been a national trend according to reports. Many people are buying guns out of safety concerns and others over concern of new gun legislation potentially being adopted. Co-owner Steve Borst of Target Sports in Glenville said that many of the recent sales were to women and senior citizens, sales that are not typically associate with gun sales.

"We want to be in business because people want to hunt or or target shoot, not because they're afraid of a terrorist attack," he said, according to the Gazette.

Co-owner Dave Leon of B&D Gunsmoke in Rotterdam said that sales were up 53 percent last week and that several national LGBT organizations have contacted the store about interest in getting weapons and personal protection training, although he declined to identify the organizations.
