Green Day, Joan Jett + More Featured in Trailer for HBO’s Rock Hall Induction Special
It was a momentous night! Green Day, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as well as Ringo Starr and late rockers Lou Reed and Stevie Ray Vaughan were among the recent inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in April. But as most people may not have been in Cleveland for the Rock Hall ceremony, there's an HBO special coming on May 30 bringing viewers a majority of the proceedings.
In the first trailer for the HBO special (seen above), you get a glimpse at not only the inductees but also the all-star lineup on hand to salute them. There's bits of the speeches as well, as Joan Jett states, "Rock and roll means more than fashion, more than a good pose. It's rebellion." Meanwhile, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong concludes the trailer by stating, "I will love rock and roll for the rest of my life."
Though it's quick cutting, you'll also catch glimpses of Tom Morello and Zac Brown rocking out in honor of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Paul McCartney "inducing" Ringo Starr and appearances by Dave Grohl, Beck, Joe Walsh, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder and more.
During their set, Green Day rocked "American Idiot," "When I Came Around" and "Basket Case." Meanwhile, Jett played "Bad Reputation," "Crimson and Clover" and an update of "Cherry Bomb" from her Runaways days.
Be sure to catch HBO's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony special Saturday, May 30 at 8PM ET / PT.
