Green Day reportedly have been forced to cancel plans for a free outdoor concert that was to be held somewhere in Burbank, Calif., on Friday (June 22) after city officials there denied the necessary permits due to concerns over crowd control.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced the so-called “secret” show with a Twitter post that read: ”Green day Surprise rock n roll sex party show meaning ‘secret show’ coming soon in LA AREA. Stay tuned!”

He later promoted the show with a series of tweets — some that apparently law enforcement officials did not see eye to eye with. “For the upcoming green day dance party, there will be extra space,” read one post. ”There’s no such thing as too many friends. Chaos = love.”

Another tweet offered beverage suggestions and hinted at a rather lax door policy: “Bring your own booze. Weirdos and punishers welcomed!”

A third promised what sounds like some serious fun: “Clothing optional! Dance or f— off. And it’s FREE.”

But with thousands expected to show up — and the turnout possibly swelling once the location of the wshow was revealed — Burbank authorities worried about safety and crowd control issues. Ultimately, it caused them to say no to the concert.

Green Day are gearing up for the release of a trilogy of albums that will be titled ’Uno!,’ ‘Dos!’ and ‘Tre!’ and are due to drop on Sept. 25, 2012, Nov. 13, 2012, and Jan. 15, 2013, respectively.
