Get $5 Christmas Trees in Vermont

Purchase a $5 "Christmas Tree Removal" permit from one of four U.S. Forest Service district offices in Rutland, Middlebury, Manchester Center or Rochester.

Upon purchasing the permit you will receive a map of Forest Service land where you can go and cut the tree. Trees should be cut six inches above the soil or less. A household will only be issued one permit and the permit should be attached to the tree before taking it out of the forest.

Other than this deal in Vermont, real trees have become quite expensive. Trees can cost anywhere from $30 - $75 or more depending on how big the tree is. Getting a Christmas tree has become a family tradition, to pick out a tree, cut it, bring it home to decorate. Sometimes it can be a hassle with needle's everywhere and then of course the clean up throughout and after the holiday.

With a fake tree you shell out the money first any where from $100 to $300 or more, set it up and be done. The artificial tree may not have the smell of a fresh cut tree, but there is less headache.  The only issue is trying to find storage for a large tree after the holiday.
