Friday, February 26: Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (Feb. 26) to bassist Tim Commerford (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave). He's 48.  Also celebrating is keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jonathan Cain of Journey (66).

Tim  Commerford and Rage Against the Machine formed out of Los Angeles, California in 1991. In addition to Commerford on bass, the rap/metal band consists of vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, and drummer Brad Wilk. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1992 and it was a commercial success with several singles including "Killing in the Name". Other albums followed including Evil Empire in 1996 and The Battle of Los Angeles in 1999. The band has been on hiatus since 2012.

Jonathan Cain is best known for his work with Journey, The Babys, and Bad English, Cain joined Journey in 1980 replacing Gregg Rolie on keyboards and he's known to perform a piano solo at every Journey concert.
