Foo Fighters May Be Recording New Album With Steve Albini and Butch Vig

Rumors have been swirling for a few weeks now that Foo Fighters would be recording their new album in a bunch of different studios. Turns out that those rumors, or at least some of them, are most likely true.

According to a Facebook update from ‘This Is a Call’ (the name of the 2013 book about Foos frontman Dave Grohl), the band is recording with a couple of superstar producers from Grohl’s past at a couple different studios.

“Brilliant to see Dave Grohl going back to his punk rock roots and bringing the Foos to Washington D.C.’s legendary Inner Ear studios to record a new song yesterday,” the post reads. “Having already recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio and Butch Vig at 606, it seems like the new Foos album will be a great reflection of Dave’s entire career.”

Vig produced Nirvana‘s breakthrough 1991 album ‘Nevermind’; Albini was on board for the band’s follow-up LP in 1993, ‘In Utero.’ Vig also worked on Foo Fighters’ last album, 2010′s ‘Wasting Light.’

Back in November, Grohl told Rolling Stone that he and the group would be recording their new album “in a way no one’s done before.” While nothing’s been confirmed, it appears that maybe this brand new way has something to do with recording each song in a different studio with a different producer. You know, just like your typical pop star does.
