It shouldn’t be too everlong now.

The Foo Fighters‘ ambitious new album is mixed and completed, according to a tweet by producer Butch Vig. Recorded on two 24-track tape machines at eight studios across the country, the still-untitled album will feature guest performances by musicians from the cities they’re from, including the EaglesJoe Walsh (Los Angeles), Cheap Trick‘s Rick Nielsen (Chicago) and more.

Here’s Vig’s tweet:

The process behind the creation of the follow-up to 2011′s ‘Wasting Light’ will also be the focus of an upcoming HBO series called ‘Sonic Highways.’ In a teaser for the show, frontman Dave Grohl said, “It all started with the idea of recording at different studios all over the country. Doing something to make it new. You can tie all of these people and places together with these sonic highways. This is a musical map of America.”

In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Grohl also said fans may not be expecting the diversity on the album. “You’ll recognize Foo Fighters in this record but you’ll also be surprised by us,” he said. “We’re doing things that we’ve never done before. Honestly, there are sections of songs that will really take you by surprise and then there are choruses that you’ll just recognize as Foo Fighters within the first three seconds.”
