Five Finger Death Punch Shine a Light on PTSD + Homeless Vets in ‘Wrong Side of Heaven’ Video

Five Finger Death Punch continue to use the video format for maximum impact and their latest clip for ‘Wrong Side of Heaven’ shines a spotlight on the plight of homeless military veterans and the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.

The powerful clip, directed by Nick Peterson, focuses on a specific group of soldiers and how they adapt once returning home. As the soldiers sing along to the lyrics and follow different paths, some staggering statistics scrawl over the screen. There are 300,000 homeless vets, with 1.4 million at risk of becoming homeless, an estimated 460,000 veterans are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, the average for homeless veterans is six years on the streets and each year 5000 vets die by their own hands.

The band states about the video, “We wanted to do something impactful to help our veterans in need.
With this video and the accompanying campaign we hope to shed more light on the seriousness of their issues. The statistics are shocking, and if any change is to take place it will start with general public awareness. We have been playing numerous military shows but wanted to do more; educate, reach out and donate to the organizations that are making a difference to better the lives of our veterans.”

There are a number of military-based organizations the band supports that scroll over the final credits of the video (and can be seen below). The group has also launched the website www.5fdp4Vets.com where more contact info for veterans with PTSD can find support.

In addition, Five Finger Death Punch have designed a “No One Gets Left Behind” jersey that will be available via an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign that will benefit the various organizations mentioned at the end of the video. Plus, they’re asking the loved ones of fallen military vets to send in their dog tags for the creation of a memorial wall. This wall will travel with the band on their fall trek across North America, with the monument finding a permanent home in a museum to honor the fallen heroes after the tour concludes.

The band visited Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas today (Aug. 11) to meet with military personnel for a signing, video screening and talk about their campaign. Those affected by PTSD are encouraged to share their stories online using the hashtag #5fdp4Vets.
