First Gran Turismo 7 Details Revealed
It’s only been seven months since Sony hit the gas on Gran Turismo 6, bringing one of the most deep, realistic and fun racing sims ever to the PS3, but according to a Eurogamer report, the sequel is already in the works.
Eurogamer caught up with Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi at the Goodwood Road & Racing Festival, where the GT producer showed off his own driving skills on a virtual version of the festival’s notorious hill-climb test. Asked about the prospect of another Gran Turismo title, Yamauchi stated, “We are working on the title,” adding, “I don’t think it’ll make this year.”
While a release date is still far away, Yamauchi was able to give some details about the game. Unlike the previous three Gran Turismo titles, the next iteration will not have a Prologue sampler released before the main game. Gran Turismo 7’s audio will be improved with a full overhaul. Yamauchi admits that the sound quality in Gran Turismo 6 isn’t as good as it could be, and states that the Polyphony team is planning to improve it through updates. “I think the quality of the sounds in Gran Turismo 6 will be improved, but most of the work will be done in Gran Turismo 7,” said Yamauchi.
Cars that have become staples of the Gran Turismo series will appear in Gran Turismo 7. Yamauchi explained, “I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars.” He added, “Each car has its own fans. So I think we’ll hang on to the archive. In the meanwhile, some of those cars we may be able to make into Premium cars as they become available – but basically we’re more focused on increasing the number of premium cars.”
