It was 32 years ago today that the ‘Miracle on Ice’ took place at the XIII Olympic Winter Games.  February 22nd 1980, the United States Hockey Team pulled off one of the biggest upsets in sports history by defeating the Soviet Union 4-3 at Lake Placid New York.

The United States then went on to win the Gold Medal by defeating Finland.

Organizers are calling the Saratoga Beer Week a ‘Beer Retreat’ and  Saratoga Springs is the perfect place to hold a beer event.  Within a eight block downtown there are numerous bars, music clubs, restaurants and hotels.  Get the Passport to enjoy every event and get you discounts at local, bar, restaruants and shops.

Saratoga is also home to the Olde Saratoga Brewing Company’s tasting room and is just a few blocks from the City Center.  They are the brewers of Olde Saratoga Lager and IPA, Kingfisher, Shmaltz Brewing beers (Coney Island Lager,  He’Brew the Chosen Beer,  etc.) and other craft beers.

There is nothing better than an ice cold Coke, or Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper, or Mello Yello.  Okay, I love soda so it seems like an appropriate thing to give up for lent.  In case you are someone who doesn’t know what lent is, it’s a time of the year where Christians, but mainly Catholics, give up something that they love from now (Ash Wednesday) until Easter Sunday.  You also don’t eat meat on Fridays.

When I was a kid I would generally give up some sort of video game, but now that I’m an adult (sure), it’s easier to give up some sort of bad for you food.  So this year it’s soda.  I have been hitting the gym pretty hard these days, and seeing awesome results, so cutting out soda will no doubt add to my success in being more fit and healthy.

The countdown to Easter Sunday begins now, and when I can once again grab an ice cold soda.  Though going without it for so long, I may not be so quick to grab for that, and instead some water.  Happy Lent everyone, yeah, I guess that’s what you would say.

Long before Drew Carey, ‘The Price Is Right’ was hosted by a master swordsman by the name of Bob Barker. Barker found a way to make a game of Plinko interesting by surrounding himself with some of the loveliest ladies on the planet. There wasn’t a teenage boy who didn’t fain interest in a game of Cliff Hangers played by a Ohio grandmother, just so he could catch a glimpse of a model’s prize package.

For the first time ever, rock/metal acts Megadeth and Rob Zombie have announced a co-headlining, two-week tour, set to kick off on May 11 in Holmdel, New Jersey and concluding May 26 in Oklahoma. It’s a short tour, but this lineup is divine and the shows should be amazing.

The tour will make stops at a few festivals, including Rocklahoma and Rock on the Range, and for all remaining shows Rob Zombie will be closing for Megadeth. No opening bands have been announced yet.

This will be the Zombie’s first tour in almost a year, as his last one was in the summer co-headlining with Slayer on the Hell on Earth tour.

The tour will come on the heels of Megadeth’s critically acclaimed return of the traveling festival Gigantour, created and curated by frontman Dave Mustaine. Rave reviews have poured in for the festival, which also features Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. The return of Gigantour, a nicely curated package tour of heavy metal bands, is just one more step in a great run underway by Megadeth, wrote the Boston Globe.

Basically, your web browser has a set of rules setup so that websites that place cookies, small files with data, on your computer, don’t track where you are going online and what you are doing if you don’t want them to. It’s like walking into a store and an employee follows you around the mall when you leave the store, watching every place you go and what you do. This is kind of what Google was doing. Even if the settings in your web browser said to not track you.

Microsoft started checking when they saw the news break about Safari, and they did find that Google was doing the same thing. But Google is countering, that Microsoft is using a system that is outdated and impractical. A majority of websites out there, no longer use the system Microsoft uses. But to me the damage has been done, with Google being caught. So the question is, are other sites doing the same? Where is the data going and what is it being used for outside of advertising?

But in this day and age, aren’t we pretty much aware we’re being tracked? Even if we say we don’t want to be? There are settings and policies in our software and on our computers to stop these kinds of things from happening, yet websites and coders, find ways around it. So what would it take for these practices to stop? Probably a major lawsuit, which doesn’t seem to be on the horizon, anytime soon. Plus, something like that, would drastically change the digital landscape of the Internet.

According to Blabbermouth, Motorhead is pretty pissed off that their fans are being forced to pay $600 to hear some of their early stuff.  Motorhead lives their fans, but Lemmy says he doesn’t want anyone paying that price.
