Pantera are one of the very few bands whose power and influence has remained legendary for decades. As Pantera consistently remain one of the most discussed bands in metal history, the subject of a partial reunion comes up fairly regularly. However, the question remains — who would fill the spot of the late, great “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott?

Although stating that Pantera should leave the 14 years they had together untouched by a partial reunion, drummer Vinnie Paul recently stated that if the band were to come together once again, Zakk Wylde would be the only man who can fill the spot of “Dimebag” Darrell. “I mean, [Zakk] and my brother were so tight,” began Paul. “If [a Pantera reunion] ever were to happen, [Zakk] would be the guy [to step in for Dimebag].”

Vinnie Paul isn’t the only Pantera member who spoke about the possibility of Zakk Wylde manning guitar duties. Frontman Phil Anselmo, who recently spoke to us about his love for Dimebag, responded to Vinnie Paul’s comments during an interview with Grand Rapids radio station WGRD 97.9.

“That is an interesting question, if anything like that would ever possibly happen,” says Anselmo. “Vince and I would have to sit in the same room, hash out whatever differences that we have, and as far as Zakk Wylde goes, I am not too sold on that ’cause we have to hash some crap out too. That day has not come yet, and until that day comes, I can comment further on that, but till then it is just talk. It would be rough not to see Dimebag on stage to my left, I would feel naked.”

It’s hard not to envy LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell (Just hear us out, OK?). Not only do they reap ungodly amounts of cash and fame playing cops & robbers on CBS (Which I know is a network, because Nana Moody says it is), they also get to hang out with Portugese-American goddess Daniela Ruah every day.

Ruah plays Special Agent Kensi Blye on ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ (which we like to call “that mega-popular show that no one I know watches”). She’s probably the only reason we’ve tuned in to watch the ‘NCIS’ spinoff every now and then. We can’t deny the allure of a tall, tough, sexy leading lady who shoots big ass guns and trashes sports cars.

The lovely 28-year-old actress, who has a distinguishable birthmark in her right eye, was born in Boston but was raised in her parents’ home country of Portugal. After graduating from London Metropolitan University, Ruah became a film and TV star in Portugal, where she won the country’s version of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in 2005.

Ruah, who speaks Portugese, Spanish and (of course) English, moved to New York to study acting in 2007 and landed the role of Kensi Blye on ‘NCIS: LA’ two years later. The show just wrapped one of its biggest events – a two-part crossover with CBS’ ‘Hawaii Five-0’ revamp.

If you haven’t caught Ruah on the small screen yet, don’t worry, her show isn’t going anywhere. ‘NCIS: LA’ is still one of the TV’s top-rated series. Here’s hoping CBS pulls the trigger on our Special Agent Blye –centered spinoff idea: ‘NCIS: South Beach.’

The 2012 Carnival of Madness lineup has been announced and with female fronted bands Evanescence and Halestorm leading the charge, the annual tour is chock full of girl power. But there’s room for the gents, too, as Chevelle and New Medicine round out the bill, serving up a stellar lineup of today’s best acts in modern hard rock.

The tour is set to kick off on July 31 in Springfield, Ill., and run through the rest of the summer and into early September, crossing the United States; check out the full list of dates and locations below.

All four bands have new music to bring to the stage. Evanescence released their self-titled disc at the end of 2011 and have been road warriors ever since. Halestorm recently wrapped up their Mass Chaos tour run with Godsmack and Staind and just dropped their latest album ‘The Strange Case of…’ in April. Chevelle’s ‘Hats Off to the Bull’ came out in December of 2011, and the newest band on the bill, New Medicine, released their debut disc in 2010.

It was just recently that Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee was singing the praises of Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale. And now Lee offers her excitement about being on the same bill as Halestorm and Chevelle: “We’re really looking forward to the Carnival of Madness tour this summer. We love Chevelle and haven’t hit the road together in years, and I’m really stoked to finally be playing some shows with Halestorm. Naturally, I’m a fan of strong women in music and Lzzy’s voice is spectacular.”

Ticket pre-sales kick off on Tuesday, May 22, with radio pre-sale tickets available first. Carnival of Madness fan club members can begin purchasing tickets Wednesday, May 23 and artist fan club pre-sales start Thursday, May 24. General public on-sale begins Friday, June 1. This is where I’d be staring at you blankly until you caught on to the sarcasm, but there’s a computer screen between us, so just imagine I’m staring at you blankly. Have you caught on yet?

I do a lot of radio listening. A LOT of radio listening. M and I like to hop in the car and drive as far as we can before we have to turn around so we can get home in time for bed, and while we drive, we listen to the radio.

Let me tell you, there are a lot of terrible promotions on the radio. Doesn’t matter the genre. Every station thinks they’ve got the skinny on their target audience. And the more I listen, the more I have to wonder if my mom is running the airwaves. Because I’ll tell you, some of the promotions some of the other guys are running right now sound like something she’d be into.

Ladies! Right now. Top four things in your life. Go!

If you just answered “getting all dressed up in my best jewelry, putting on my face and getting smashed while cooking with my fancy cooking supplies,” you’re fired. You can’t be a girl of the 2000s anymore. Go back to 1950. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

Okay, you can be whatever the hell you want to be, but you’re in the minority. At least when we’re talking about the chicks I know and love.

Remember when we were kids and our moms went to all those parties that our dads never went to? Occasionally we’d go with Mom cause Dad was doing something with the guys, and other kids doomed to our fate would be there looking just as miserable as we felt.

They were never anything so cool as the sex toy parties we’ve heard of (or in my case, hosted and attended), or kegers, or swingers. It was always something like Mary Kay, or Avon, or Tupperware, or some off brand of clothes. It was some kind of rite of passage for housewives to throw some shopping party or another. What’s better than a bunch of friends shopping at home while sucking down wine coolers?

There’s more to today’s woman than that. Today’s woman is always on the go. She’s at school furthering her education, or steadily advancing in her career, or chasing her dreams. She’s independent, and intelligent, and has far more opportunities than “bored housewife.” But some would still have you believe all we women care about is jewelry, makeup, cooking and drinking.

They are sadly mistaken.

I asked some of my buds what they shop for, and the responses were all over the board. Books, clothes, shoes, movies, gym-related items, gadgets and, believe it or not, sports memorabilia. If you ask them what they want their guys to buy, their interests are a little more similar.

“Something he knows I’ll really like that I haven’t asked for before.” is the most common response.

Jewelry is a cop-out. Makeup is akin to gifting her with toothpaste. Cooking supplies, unless your girl’s a chef and hasn’t been able to find a specific utensil she’d use all the time if only she had it, will probably be thrown at your head.

Guys, please. I’m begging you. When you’re looking for something to surprise your lady with (or trying to draw the women into your business), look further than what typical advertisements geared toward women tell you we want. Cause they’re quite often wrong. And you’re better than that. Right?

Man Japan really has it all figured out. We are now one step closer to living like the people in the movie Wall-E and I couldn’t be more excited. This new mobile stool thing is going to catch on I just know it.  I can’t wait till my phone, lazy boy chair, nachos, girlfriend and television are all built into one comfy mobile device.

It’s going to be based on DC comic book hero Green Arrow. I know what your thinking, no it is not based on the Green Arrow featured on ‘Smallville’.  It’s a whole new take.  Fingers crossed they don’t ruin things, but there is always a good chance of that when it comes to the CW.

I thought Girls Gone Wild was gone for ever but I guess I was wrong. I also once thought I’d never see elf again but then he popped back for a made for TV movie so I guess why not GGW too. This video is everything I love in life, half naked girls and alcohol. Throw in a Frisbee and some chicken fingers and I may be set for life. Either way enjoy these girls dancing naked and pouring liquor on them selves while you sit at work worry from because this video is on YouTube and not considered porn. Your welcome!

Face it, we’re all human.  What does that mean exactly?  We make mistakes.  You can eat good all day long, but it’s that late night snacking that is usually what comes back to bite you.  Now it all depends on what you eat, and according to an article I read, your body still needs fuel, let’s just make sure it’s the right fuel.

One of my personal favorite in between meal snacks is humus and pita chips.  It is a delicious alternative to chips and dip, and lets be honest. Humus is awesome.  Don’t like chickpeas?  Get over it, because the combinations of flavors in the humus make you totally forget that you are eating a healthy snack to begin with.  Don’t over indulge though, obviously.

Fruit is also a good snack, particularly if you have a sweet tooth.  One of the best are some nice fresh red grapes.  I don’t do Weight Watchers, but I have been told that you eat a billion of those puppies and it hardly does anything to your points.  Score!

So just remember, it’s a moderation thing.  Like Mom always use to say, eat with your stomach, not with your eyes.

It’s things like this that make me love stupid people. A young couple working together passed 13 counterfeit $100 bills at an Amsterdam  store before being arrested on felony forgery charges, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department said yesterday morning.

Ethan M. Whitman, and Carley M. Goguen, were arrested Wednesday and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument. Goguen also was charged with grand larceny. Sheriff’s Department Investigator Bradley Schaffer said Whitman was a clerk in the electronics department at the Target department store in the town, where he sold $1,227 in merchandise to Goguen, his girlfriend, on April 30.

Schaffer also stated-

“The quality is so poor, we’re certain no reasonable person who’s handled money would believe these were authentic bills,”

The couple was arraigned in Town Court. Whitman is being held at the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Gougen was released after posting $10,000 bond.

This is why we keep the Monopoly money at home that stuff won’t pass here, but you can try Canada I hear they will take anything!

Northern Lights seems to have held its name forever, until today after making a Facebook announcement a couple minutes ago. Upstate New York’s favorite concert venue has parted ways with its name and has moved onto a more [well] general name. When attending concerts now in Clifton Park, you’ll be checking into Foursquare or Facebook at Upstate Concert Hall. The new Facebook page also states there will be a press release tomorrow to explain the new changes taking place. So stay tuned for more news!

To me, it’ll still be known as Northern Lights. Sometimes it’s time for change, but at the same time a lot of people don’t like change. What do you think of the new name? Do you like it or do you think you could have thought of something wittier?

It seems as though Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp becomes a bigger attraction by the year, not just for the fans and those willing to shell out for the experience, but for those in the industry willing to serve as instructors.

The annual event, now in its 15th year, will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Oct. 10-14, with KISS’ Gene Simmons, Motley Crue’s Vince Neil, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde and ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach leading the way.

Simmons stated of his involvement, “I can’t wait to reveal the secrets of becoming a rock star. Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp is a grueling, military-style musical training process. And I’m just the guy to be your sergeant. Now drop and give me twenty.”

Campers of all talents and skill levels will get to learn from Simmons, Neil, Wylde and Bach among others, with the chance to write and record an original song and jam nightly with legendary rockers. Both three-day and five-day packages are available. Check the event website for camp and registration details.

Every week they post new videos for us to look at for way too long, such as this one.  Not sure why this girl is dancing under a pier, but we aren’t about to argue either.  We would join her, but we’re afraid we would just scare her away.  For now, we’ll just stare at a distance.  Is that creepy?

Upstate Photographers, Q103

This morning, Q-Tease Amanda and I will be on our way to Columbus, Ohio for the weekend to do coverage at Rock on the Range at Crew Stadium. The event features over 40 bands on three stages over the course of the weekend and we will be interviewing all of them.

We have been preparing for this for a month! We divided all of the bands up and researched each band to get some background information on them for the interviews. I used my special “band” notebook and wrote notes and questions for each band. Being over prepared is better than not being prepared enough!

We have a ten hour drive ahead of us- a little grueling but I’m sure we’ll make the best of it and it will go by fast. We’ll listen to music and take turns driving and stop here and there to fill up the car and our tummies. The gas is about 40 cents cheaper in Ohio too, so that’s a big plus!

Friday night four bands will kick off the weekend- Hells Bells, Black Tide, Foxy Shazam and Hairball. The remainder of the bands will be split between Saturday and Sunday. View the entire line-up and schedule here.

What is it with guys hitting Snooki and her look-alikes? She’s so small and harmless that it leads us to believe these are the same men who’d take a magnifying glass to ants to see ‘em explode. TMZ obtained video of this altercation that took place at this past weekend’s Rockfest in Kansas City.

The bearded festival-goer apparently hit his boiling point after the small, tan brunette in the pink Playboy hat hit a nerve with one of her comments. So, he decides to go all ’300′ on her with a kick to the chest and face area. (Note: this video may be too intense for some viewers.)

After a split second of shock, a gang of guys come to her defense and go nuclear on him. But, we’re wondering about the guy who was initially talking to the crazed kicker. You’d think after your attempt to calm down the assaulter failed, you’d just step aside and say, “Well, I told him.” But, no, this guy is there peeling off the kicker’s attackers. Must be one hell of a friend.

As for the Snook-alike (thanks, TMZ), maybe she missed the episode where her more famous doppelganger mouthed off and got clocked? Maybe the scent of pickle juice mixed with bronzer triggers the fight portion of one’s brain — like a bull seeing red. Take note, little guidettes.

This 40-year-old actress was born in Sarasota, Florida where she had a kidney operation at the age of four.

Soon thereafter she moved to Paradise, California with her mother at the age of five. Although her family moved around a lot, she maintained good grades and was a straight A student throughout high school where she graduated as valedictorian.

She was discovered in San Diego by a major modeling agency that sent her to New York to start modeling when she was just 15 years old. Later she returned to Los Angeles where she enrolled in an acting class at the suggestion of her aunt, Carol Merrill, who is known from the 1960’s television show ‘Let’s Make A Deal.’

Her television career during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s included appearances on ‘Saved by the Bell’, ‘Who’s the Boss?’, ‘ALF’, ‘Doogie Howser’, and ‘The Wonder Years’. She has starred opposite Nicholas Cage, Russell Crowe, Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.
