Every summer Albany has at least one major rock festival and this year there was no way we'd let you down. With "The Edge" gone, so is Edgefest. Channel 103.1 is dead and so is Big Day Out - so in their place we bring you Q-Ruption 2011 hosted by Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show;  featuring Godsmack, Five Finger Death Punch, Skillet, Sick Puppies, Egypt Central plus a local band to open.

Godsmack is a heavy metal band that was formed in 1995 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The band is composed of four members including, front man Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin. Since 2005, the band has released five studio albums, four DVD’s and one greatest hit album. Three of their five albums have been consecutive number one albums on Billboard 200. They have also received 19 top ten rock radio hits, 15 of which were in the Top Five, a record amount of top ten singles by a rock artist.

Five Finger Death Punch is an American heavy metal band that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 2005. The band originally consisted of vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Jason Hook, and drummer Jeremy Spencer.  The band has two albums, their debut album The Way of the Fist has sold over 500,000 copies in the United States. Their second album War is the Answer, debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200. The band has released six Top 10 singles; "The Bleeding," "Never Enough," "Hard to See," "Walk Away," "Bad Company" and "Far from Home".

Skillet is an American Christian Rock band that was formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. The band consists of lead vocalist, John Cooper and wife Korey Cooper, along with guitarist Seth Morrison and drummer, Jen Ledger.  The band has released eight albums, Collide and Comatose both receiving Grammy nominations.

This Aussie trio has been on tour for the past two years and their performance at Q-Ruption will be the final one on their tour before they head back to the land down under for some well earned time off.

Straight out of Memphis, Egypt Central has a very distinctive sound that is well known to audiences in the Albany area, having played a festival or two in the past.
