Every Kundalini Yoga & Meditation class begins with a short chant to tune in, followed by specific breathing techniques (Pranayam) and gentle movements to warm up the body, flex the spine and calm the mind.
The main work of the class is called a Kriya, which is a prescribed sequence of postures (Asana) that focus on a specific anatomical system or energy center (Chakra).
Each Asana or movement is done in conjunction with a specific Pranayam that intensifies its effects, with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and allowing it to move upwards.
The Kriya is always followed by deep relaxation (Savasana).
The class ends with a deep, extended meditation, which may be accompanied by the teacher playing a large gong, followed by brief closing song & blessing.
Note: KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers only give verbal cues and clear demonstration (rather than physical/manual adjustments), so as not to interfere with your energy field.
