American rock quintet Evanescence are getting quite the Christmas gift this year- a certified silver album. The self-titled, 12-track record released two months ago, and has since sold thousands of copies. Perhaps it's because it's been five years since their last release that fans have been suffering from withdrawal, or maybe it's just the pure love that fans have for the female-fronted band. Both are plausible, but I think it's more the latter.

During its first week of release, Evanescence sold 127,000 copies in the United States, and even landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This lead the album to be certified silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for excess sales of 60,000 copies in the UK.

The band's previous two album had major successes as well. 2006's The Open Door also debuted at No. 1 after selling 447,000 copies. Since then, that number has risen to 2.1 million copies.

Fallen, their first album, has sold 7.3 million copies since its 2003 release.

According to the article,

EVANESCENCE tapped Dean Karr (IRON MAIDEN, OZZY OSBOURNE, MARILYN MANSON) to direct the video for the song "My Heart Is Broken". The clip was filmed on December 1 and will make its online debut in January.
