Whether it’s a recession, depression, down economy or whatever you want to call it, people still want to get a buzz. Booze sales are up 10%. From watching CNN’s Morning Express today I think the gist of it is that people are buying it and bringing it home though as opposed to going out. The funny thing is that beers like Coors and Miller sales are down. I think people are opting for lesser quality beers like Keystone, Genny and whatnot. More buzz for your buck I guess. It all makes sense, except I can never bring myself to drink those headache beers. Maybe it’s not like this for everyone, but I find the quality of those brews is so bad that I start to get a hangover while I’m drinking them in addition to the day after. Two hangovers for one drinking experience is not my ideal 2 for 1. Even as a teenager when my friends and I would pool are money together for beers I would beg and plead to go for a 12 pack of Bud instead of 18 or 24 Milwaukee’s Best. Sometimes I won, but sometimes I was outnumbered and would be hungover before 10pm. I hear you can build a tolerance to those lesser beers and once you get used to it, it’s the same as drinking any other beers. But at this point in my life, I think there’s better things to do with my time than teaching my body how to tolerate cheap alcohol.
