Hudson Valley Community College in Troy is offering drone flying classes from July 23-Aug. 6.

According to hvcc.edu, the course costs $1,499 and provides training for learning to fly small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). More commonly referred to as drones, these sUAS can be flown for pleasure or to learn what is required of a commercial operator. The course not only teaches how to fly drones, but multiple types of flight systems and students will learn about emerging job opportunities with using the sUAS. Course topics include computer simulator training, flight systems, routine maintenance, uses and applications, safety, FAA policies, privacy concerns, and insurance among many other topics. The tuition includes all course materials, software, radio controller, and quadcopter.  The courses are from July 23- Aug 6 from 9am-4pm at the HVCC main campus.
