A prominent building in downtown Albany that has been in decay for many years is set to be demolished.

According to The Times Union,  6 E-Comm Square (a building owned by the Albany Convention Center Authority) is set to be leveled at fear that it may collapse. The recommendation on leveling the building came from an engineer on Thursday. The building sits at the corner of Broadway and Division Street and much of the structure's roof has already caved in. A contract to demolish the building was awarded today to Albany based DiTonno & Sons with demolition expected in the coming hours.

Convention officials have not spoken to reporters but Mayor Kathy Sheehan said that she expects that the authority would be paying for the demolition. She also noted that that the authority paid to level another building at 50 Hudson Ave. due to decay. How do you feel about the impending demolition of 6 E-Comm Square and do you have any memories of the building?
