‘Disturbed’ Albany Area Man Arrested with Grenade Launcher, Firearms Cache
A Knox, NY man was arrested Sunday (Nov. 5) after Albany County Sheriff's allegedly found multiple high powered weapons in his home.
According to the Times Union, Albany County Sheriff's Officer's received a call from Edward J. Reis, 43, who they described as mentally disturbed. When deputies arrived at the Knox home they were unable to find the man but they did find numerous firearms, the grenade launcher, and materials to make explosives. The man had texted a woman, stating that "he wanted to go to Arizona and euthanize himself." A search for the man led them to a East Greenbush motel room where the man was contacted through a crisis negotiator. Police found a loaded AR-15 style rifle in the hotel room. Reis was taken to Albany County jail and charged with felony criminal possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of a weapon, along with various other misdemeanors.
