Good news, everyone! Since his dismissal from Slayer in 2013, drummer Dave Lombardo has kept quite busy. One of his most recent ventures is serving as a live drummer for Suicidal Tendencies and now it looks like the influential crossover thrash icons have secured his services for the studio as well.

The band is currently laboring over what will be their eleventh studio album since coming onto the scene in 1983 with their self-titled debut. Offering a glimpse at some sounds from the forthcoming record, Suicidal Tendencies uploaded a video to their Instagram page showing the drum legend at work. Accompanying the clip were hashtags indicating a September release later this year.

At the end of February earlier this year, Suicidal Tendencies announced Lombardo had signed on to sit in for their tour supporting Megadeth with Children of Bodom and Havoc rounding out the lineup.

After splitting ways with Philm in January, the drummer took on yet another new project, constructing the hardcore punk outfit Dead Cross. The lineup is filled out by members of the Locust and Retox. While the band did enter the studio to track a release, no timeframe has been made available concerning further details. With a handful of shows now behind them, they've also released their first official song, "We'll Sleep When They're Dead," which can be heard here.

“It’s just straightforward brutal punk — metal-esque, but it’s definitely not metal," Lombardo told Noisey shortly after forming the group. "I think it definitely leans more towards the punk style, because I feel that the way things are in the world, a punk attitude is definitely necessary to help you along with the s--t that’s going on.”
