Crashing the Hard Rock Hotel

I may only be two weeks into my stint as the Q103 Rock Girl, but I'm already on vacation! And I am crashing the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

It's been a long time since this Rock Girl has gotten a chance to go on a vacation, so of course I would make it revolve around rock music. On the downside, I'm missing some phenomenal rock shows this week at Upstate Concert Hall, including Highly Suspect tonight and Asking Alexandria on Tuesday, November 15. On the upside, I'm surrounded by some unbelievable relics of rock history and immersed in sun and music around the clock. The way I see it, I'm preparing myself for my trip to see Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch in Florida in only a few weeks!

I just arrived today to the Hard Rock in Punta Cana and I've  the already toured most of the resort checking out all the pieces of rock history. The resort itself covers a vast area, with 13 pools, 8 restaurants, and much more, so I definitely got my walking in. The resort also has an option to "rent" a guitar for your room, which I did immediately after I checked in. I was given a menu by the concierge, with a choice of 20 different types of Fender guitars, including various Stratocaster models, Telecaster models, and a Kurt Cobain Jaguar model in sunburst.  Being the huge grunge music fan that I am, I had to choose the Kurt Cobain Jaguar. I'm looking forward to not just enjoying music this week, but also getting to play some too!

Strolling around the resort, I stumbled upon memorabilia including a Pearl Drum set mounted on the wall used by Michael Thomas, from Bullet For My Valentine, at "Taste of Chaos" in 2008.  I also ran into a 1926 Ford Hot Rod that once belonged to Sammy Hagar, the "Axe Bass" of Gene Simmons from Kiss, and Kirk Hammett's guitar, of Metallica. This Rock Girl lives to see live music, but I also can nerd out when it comes to music history and memorabilia.  I'm really enjoying the trip so far, and took a couple of pictures for you guys to check out!
