If you happen to live in Amsterdam, then you'll understand why I've been so happy recently. Life just wasn't the same without Miami Avenue.

For the first time since early March, the people of Amsterdam NY are getting to enjoy quicker and easier drives to Route 30 and the Amsterdam Commons. While everyone else was rightly celebrating the completion of the new footbridge, the rest of us were at home reflecting on the good days before Miami Avenue collapsed in on itself.

Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing, but the day I found out that Miami Avenue was opening back up, I went out for a drive just so I could remember how good it felt to get down to the Commons in just a couple minutes.

If you don't live in Amsterdam, trust me, it was a big deal. I know some people that were following the progress of the construction of Miami Avenue closer than they were following any presidential candidate.

I would of course like to thank everyone who worked to help restore Miami Avenue to its former glory, as I'm sure the rest of Amsterdam does too. I'm sure our constant complaining about when the road would be reopened got pretty tiresome after a while, but we really do appreciate the time you put into getting the road fixed.

What a time to be alive.
