More details have surfaced surrounding the plans for Chris Cornell's burial. According to TMZ, Cornell was cremated Tuesday (May 23) in Los Angeles as a small group of family and friends stood by. The singer's ashes will be buried during a private ceremony at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery this Friday (May 26).

According to the TMZ report, Chris' brother Peter Cornell, his wife Vicky as well as friends Linda Ramone and singer J.D. King were among those at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Tuesday, with a private service to follow this Friday.

Meanwhile, Chris Cornell's attorney told Variety that after the private ceremony, the public will be allowed to visit the gravesite beginning just after 3PM PT. There has been no confirmed public memorial plans as of yet.

The singer was pronounced dead in the early morning hours of May 18, with the medical examiner ruling that it was "suicide by hanging." The singer had just performed a show with Soundgarden in Detroit just prior to his death. However, it was revealed by Cornell's family that he had stated he had taken "an extra Ativan or two" during a conversation with his wife that caused her concern. The family is awaiting toxicology reports to see what role the prescription drug may have played in the singer's death. Cornell was 52.
