Recently, the hard drive in my iMac was showing the early signs of it failing. It was taking longer to start up, and shut down, as well as it taking forever for programs and files to open. The many things I tried to correct the problem didn't work, so I decided to replace it. But what about the data on the old drive? How would I get rid of the drive without worrying about the data falling into someone hands?

The New York Times is saying that Facebook is starting up it's plans again for a Facebook Smartphone. The use of mobile devices on the internet is going up and Facebook doesn't want to be left behind. The report is saying the company is so focused on this, that even Mark Zuckerberg is personally getting involved with the project.
Facebook seems to be be having a bad week. The Securities and Exchange Commission, the regulatory body for the stock market, is calling for a review of the circumstances around Facebook's IPO. This is due to the 9% drop in the stock as well as the accusation that the downward revised profit forecasts that were released days before the offering, but could have been leaked to a select few investors before the IPO. And to top it all off, they're getting sued by stock holders.
So last night, sometime between 9:30 and 10pm, my power did a little flicker, then it was gone. It was pitch black in the house and the lighter and flashlight were in the kitchen. Once Kim and I managed to shuffle our way through the dark to get them and got a candle or two lit, we proceeded to take steps to protect the electronics in the house. The company has announced that if you have an unlimited data plan "grandfathered in" from when they still offered unlimited data for their smart phones, at the end of your current contract, it's gone. Instead you'll be offered a shared data plan as you migrate from 3G to the new 4G LTE data network.
