The capital Region is under a heat advisory as of Noon today (July 16).

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Capital Region until 8pm tonight. According to The Saratogian, with temps getting into the low to mid 90's today, heat index values of 95 to 100 degrees are expected. The heat and humidity increases risk of heat-related issues especially in the elderly, people with lung and heart disease and those working outdoors. Those exposed to the elements should drink plenty of liquids, stay in air conditioned area whenever possible and try to avoid direct sunlight. It is also suggested that residents check up on the well-being of relatives and neighbors. If you or someone you know is overcome by heat, you should call 911 right away as a heat stroke is a medical emergency.

Try and stay cool today and avoid being outside if you don't need to be.
