The Capital Area Holiday Lights in the Park have been vandalized this weekend and the damage is estimated to be at least $25,000.

The display set up in Washington Park has been celebrating it's 15th year displaying some of the finest Holiday light displays here in the Capital Region.  This weekend, vandals have hit the displays and sprayed graffiti messages as well as cut the power to some of the lights.

According to the web staff at YNN, "All of the corporate sponsorship signs within the display were sprayed with graffiti messages saying things like "Stop corporate greed" and "Don't shop at Wal-mart."  The web staff continues to say "Ricchiuti said about 15 displays will need to be repaired".

The park is supposed to be back on schedule after this weekend according to the story .  Personally, I hope the vandals are caught.  This is a hell of a shameful thing to do on Christmas weekend.
