You've seen it during the winter Olympics but have you ever actually tried curling yourself? On this weeks Free Advice Friday we spend some time on the ice to show you what it's really about.

Over the past week the Albany Curling Club has been holding their open house and training sessions so Vinnie and I took it as the perfect opportunity to go and check it out for ourselves.

While we didn't end up participating in a real match this time we did get to learn all the basics of curling and let me tell you it is not as easy as it looks. Just a few things we learned at our attempt  at curling...

  1. Wear comfy, warm, and moveable clothes. I would definitely not recommend jeans and would layer up it can get pretty chilly out there.
  2. Clean your shoes and wear shoes with a rubber sole.
  3. Balance is key (don't be afraid to fall the fear will mess up your mojo and you'll probably fall anyways).
  4. Most of all, have fun!

So without further ado ... here is our attempt at learning how to curl.
