The all-star covers band Camp Freddy took to Los Angeles' Roxy just prior to the holidays for three nights of surprise guests and killer covers that left audiences rocked to the core. With a base of singer Donovan Leitch, guitarists Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison, bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Sorum, Camp Freddy puts on a great show as is, but the surprise guests are usually what makes the gigs fun.

The run began Dec. 20 with several Camp Freddy regulars dropping by to rock the joint. Franky Perez of Scars on Broadway fame lit up the place with his blistering vocals on Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song' and the Black Crowes' 'Hard to Handle.' Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, another longtime Camp Freddy favorite, tried his hand out on Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the Name Of' and Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens got to show off his stuff on the Idol favorite 'Rebel Yell.' Opening night also featured Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst taking on Aerosmith's 'Sweet Emotion' and Jane's Addiction's 'Been Caught Stealing,' before the night ended with Lemmy Kilmister's holiday appropriate take on 'Run Rudolph Run.'

The second night found Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell rocking the house, putting his stamp on the Sex Pistols' 'Holidays in the Sun,' Thin Lizzy's 'Jailbreak,' and Dio's 'Rainbow in the Dark,' with Sebastian Bach providing vocals on the latter track. Lana Del Rey also turned up for a cover of Oasis' 'Wonderwall.' Along with return engagements by Durst and Lemmy, the evening also found ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons finishing out the night with 'Sharp Dressed Man' and 'La Grange.'

The third and final night of the run was a good time to see some nifty guitar work, as Tom Morello rocked out 'The Ghost of Tom Joad' in honor of the late Joe Strummer; Zakk Wylde took on Black Sabbath's 'War Pigs,' Jimi Hendrix's 'Voodoo Chile' and Alice in Chains' 'Man in the Box'; and Stevens returned to lend his licks to a handful of covers.
