Buffy – The Vampire Slayer Who Started It All

Before there was Twilight or True Blood, there was only one place to get your vampire and supernatural fix.  Buffy the Vampire Slayer helped usher in a genre that has overtaken people around the world.  I'm here to tell you why it is and will always be the be all and end all series for this kind of stuff.

I keep seeing ads for Sarah Michelle Gellar returning to TV in a brand new show called The Ringer.  That got me thinking about the show that made her famous and that would be the 1990's hit, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

There are a lot of vampire type shows and movies right now, but the one that started the obsession had to be Buffy.  I know that Dracula and vampires have been around for years, but when I think about people being into all this kind of stuff most of them say that they use to watch Buffy.  Though I think most people who watched Buffy want nothing to do with crap like Twilight or The Vampire Diaries, a show like True Blood is right up the same ally.  There may be more nudity and blood in True Blood, but it has the same kind of craziness and humor that Buffy use to bring to the table.  Personally I can't stand Twilight or any of their ridiculous fans.

Creator Joss Whedon really knew what he was doing when he put this show together.  He was also one of the original writers for the movie, which was not suppose to be anything like it ended up (thank you Hollywood).  His twisted sense of humor made that show what it was.  It may have started out as a teenage type show, but it evolved very quickly into a more serious show with some very dark overtones.  He even sparked one of the best vampire human romances.

Now we have Sookie and Bill, and Edward and Bella, but the first and best will always be Buffy and Angel.  They want each other but they can't have each other.  The more I think about it, the more I can't help but think that Twilight is a complete rip off of Buffy. By the way Stephanie Meyer, vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun light.  They turn to dust!  At least when True Blood changes some of the vampire folklore they have an explanation for it.

So for all you stupid teenagers that are all into the crap fest that is Twilight, just remember that there was something way better that came before it.  And for you older women that are into Twilight, you are just weird.  You do know your obsessed with a book written for young adults right?  Have fun with that.
