Bruins Explode – Canucks’ Rome Suspended 4 Games
Not only does this feel like it’s a series now, but it’s pretty funny to watch this finger biting routine too. At anytime it seems it could turn into a WWE event with someone jumping of the top of the glass or something.
If you haven’t been paying attention, in game 1 Vancouver’s Alex Burrows bit Patrice Bergeron’s finger. Since then, every time there’s any bit of a scuffle between teams the Boston Bruin’s player holds his finger in front of the Canuck’s mouth daring him to bite it. It’s so silly, but funny.
In the first period last night Vancouver’s Aaron Rome laid a nasty and cheap shot on Boston’s Nathan Horton. Horton left on a stretcher and won’t be back this season. During the 1st intermission the Bruins must have had a serious discussion as they turned from a team that could hardly score into an offensive juggernaut scoring 4 goals in the 2nd period and winning the game 8-1.
The good news is that Horton (now diagnosed with a concussion) was moving his limbs and whatnot when he got to the hospital and will probably be ok, which is always great to hear after you see a guy carted off being immobilized. More good news if you’re a Bruins fan as the league announced today that Aaron Rome will be suspended for the rest of the series. Rightfully so, especially considering Burrow didn’t receive any penalty for the gross tactic of finger biting.
If you’re not watching the Stanley Cup Finals, you’re missing out on some good hockey. I’m not even a big hockey fan, but watching in HD brings this sport to a new level. Let’s go B’s!
