There is a possibility you may soon be able to add a frosty cold adult beverage to your movie going experience in the Capital Region.

Gov. Cuomo has taken to revamping the alcohol laws in New York State recently and to be honest some were seriously out dated and really needed it and some are designed to build revenue and local business while allowing us to enjoy some adult libations at times and places we would not have been able to otherwise.

With state lawmakers back in the Capital for another 7-8 weeks of legislation the TU is reporting that the governor is getting some support from theater groups and alcohol producers to push through a bill that would allow movie theaters in the state of NY to sell alcohol.

There are already a few in the state that do sell alcohol like the Bow Tie Cinemas that have a couple of locations across the Capital Region however, you have to enjoy your beverage before entering the theater not while you watch the film.

There are people that seem to feel real strongly on either side of the topic. I have seen a lot of the opposition stating things like "Do you really need to have a drink to go to the movies" or "Children do not need to see that". Now the legislation does have some restrictions attached like you can only purchase one alcoholic beverage per transaction and you must have a tickets for films rated PG-13, R or NC-17.

So it's not like you are going to be going to a Disney film and seeing people booze it up. Also, if you think about it. How many times have you been sitting on your couch watching a movies or TV and enjoyed and adult beverage? It's not like you are necessarily getting bombed while relaxing on the couch.

Personally, I've been to some really cool theaters that not only sold drinks but offered some good eats and had some pretty comfy seats with trays or tables as well. I'd love to see some options like that in the area not only for something different to do but something for adults to do.

What do you think? Yay booze or No Thanks?!?!
