Bird-Flavored Ice Cream Is the Most Disgusting Thing You’re Dying to Try

Oh, Japan, you never disappoint.

The country that brought us this has now decided to offer bird-flavored ice cream, finally filling a terrible void and putting the “robin” in ‘Baskin-Robbins.’

A Japanese eatery called Torimi Cafe recently offered bird-flavored concoctions at the Small Bird Expo in Osaka (something tells us Torimi doesn’t understand exactly what those in attendance were celebrating at the expo).

For those of you wondering how you make bird-flavored ice cream, we’re sorry to disappoint you, but the treat, while labeled bird-flavored, is actually bird-inspired, which hopefully gives it a much more pheasant — err, pleasant — taste.

For example, the parakeet is basically vanilla with honey and apple. Torimi says, “It’s like eating some vanilla ice cream in one hand and then taking a whiff of parakeet in your other hand.” Yeaaah. We’ll take your word for it, buddy.

The cockatiel, meanwhile, has pumpkin and sunflower seeds mixed with parakeet flavor. The taste is like “when you’re sleeping with your mouth open and your cockatiel runs over your face and gets its leg in your mouth.” Again, we’re starting to think these are for a very specific subsection of people who love ice cream and are far, far too close with their birds.

Believe it or not, the trial run for these and other flavors was a success, so you can expect to see them again, although there’s no word when or if they will migrate stateside in time for the upcoming summer season. And that’s just — wait for it — for the birds.
