Smashing Pumpkins Frontman Billy Corgan to Work for Major Wrestling Company

For many, this may not be a shocker as Billy Corgan is a known lifetime fan of pro wrestling. What is a shocker is that he will not begin a career as a wrestler. Instead he will be a senior adviser for Total Nonstop Action, a.k.a. TNA.As seen in the picture above, with who I believe is Mexican wrestler La Parka, Corgan often inserts some wrestling into his shows.

If you love the Smashing Pumpkins, you already know of his past in wrestling as well. He actually was one of the founders of the independent promotion called "Resistance Pro Wrestling." The company does monthly events in the windy city around where Corgan hails. He resigned there in November and apparently has moved on to bigger and greener pastures.

Total Nonstop Action, I think, could be huge for Corgan, being a company with a lot more freedom creatively than their counterpart. Corgan's official title is senior producer of creative and talent development, which, in the wrestling community, is very esteemed seeing as it's a position that has been held by many brilliant minds in the past.

In the press release on the matter, Corgan had this to say:

For as cultures currently evolve at great speed, so must pro wrestling meet and supersede such expectations to thrive."

He was interviewed yesterday by Josh Matthews on the move in the video below. All I can say is that I hope there is an angle that involves a pumpkin being used as a weapon.
