Can you smell that in the air? It's the smell of legions of Battlefield fans getting ready to participate in the game's beta during the next few days. To help facilitate their need for all things Battlefield 4, here's another look at the game's Commander Mode.

Commander Mode will be a powerful tool in Battlefield 4, capable of giving players even more tactical advantages in combat. A post on the Battlefield blog gives us a bit more insight into exactly what Commander Mode can do for us.

For starters, the Mode gives the Commander the ability to spot High Value Targets on the field. If a player gets a six-kill streak, they'll appear on the Commander Screen as a selectable unit. The enemy team's Commander can then mark this player as a High Value Target, which starts a countdown and highlights the player on the mini map. If the HVT is killed within the time limit, the enemy team gets bonus points.

Right off the bat, it seems as if Commanders get some pretty powerful perks. But in order to become a Commander, you'll first have to reach Rank 10. Once you do, you'll be able to join matches on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of the Second Screen nature of Commander Mode, the Commander will need access to a tablet.

Another cool feature is the fact that you can start a Commander mutiny if you don't like how your current Commander's performance. Once the mutiny has been initiated, teammates will be able to vote on whether or not to boot the current Commander from their position. The Commander can use this time to sway votes by performing better. If not, they get kicked and a new Commander takes the spot.
