Baroness Announce 2013 North American Tour
We've got some incredible news to share with you all! Seven months after rock band Baroness sustained serious injuries in a terrifying bus crash, the group has announced a full North American tour! Baroness are set to get back on the road beginning May 24 in Philadelphia, and they're bringing Inter Arma, True Widow + Coliseum with them.
Although Baroness recently parted ways with drummer Allen Blickle and bassist Matt Maggioni, the band has overcome yet another obstacle and are currently jamming with new musicians Nick Jost (bass) and Sebastian Thomson (drums) for Baroness' summer dates. "The tour kicks off May 24 in Philadelphia at Union Transfer," guitarist Pete Adams told us in an exclusive interview, "and that in itself is going to be an awesome show. We're gonna be kicking' around the States, we're gonna have to ease back into this thing."
Adams continues, "It's something we're just now exploring, we're just now getting into that. Everything literally was put on hold. At the end of it all, it was just this really big, long pause at a not-so-great time. It's mostly 'Yellow & Green' stuff that we're gonna be doing on this tour coming up. I think we'll always continue to play songs off 'Red' and 'Blue' that we enjoy playing and that are fun to play. I don't think we'll ever shelve those songs. It's gonna be a big mash-up of some older stuff and a lot of new stuff."
Commenting on the current state of Baroness, Adams assures us that things are running smoothly. "Right now, the mood is good, the mood is super, super good considering we had to figure out a whole new game plan. Rehearsals are going really well right now, better than I expected, better than one would expect. Before you ever strike a single note you go, 'I just hope this works out.' [Laughs] You know? You start to feeling drained already just thinking about it, but we've gotten over that aspect of it -- that whole, 'What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?' We've worked through that and now we're moving along. Rehearsals are going really well, man. We're just gonna keep on plugging way until we're ready to hit the road."
During this same interview with Pete Adams, the strummer shared his personal recollection of Baroness' 2012 bus crash, offering his own perspective of the horrific event.
