It has been over two years since California rock band Avenged Sevenfold released their highly successful, No. 1-rated album "Nightmare." Since then the band have been touring and writing new material, including their recent single "Carry On" (heard below) which was created for the newest "COD: Black Ops 2" game. Now the band are ready for their sixth studio album and announced that they will be hitting the studio next month

The quartet will start the recording process in January and plan for a summer 2013 release for the new album, whose immediate details are unknown at this time.

Famed vocalist M. Shadows made the following statement about the upcoming album:

This album's a little more groove orientated. There's a little bit more groove to it, a little bit more focused on bigger riffs. So that's where it's headed — every song has gotta have a huge riff and every song has to have a groove to it.

So I guess the word used to sum it all up is "groovy." Not very A7X oriented but I'm sure their version of groovy is our version of awesome sounds and symmetric harmonizing rhythms. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
