Monte
We all remember where we were ten years ago, the day the terrible tragedy known as 9/11 took place. For the New York Giants head coach, Tom Coughlin, he was doing what he does best - coaching. However, there was no NFL game taking place on that fateful Tuesday. Coughlin was coaching his son out of the World Trade Center.
Former NFL Quarterback, Doug Flutie, is known for many things: Winning the 1984 Heisman Trophy, the Hail Mary pass against Miami, winning three Grey Cup MVP awards in the Canadian Football League, and perhaps being the last Buffalo Bills QB to lead the team to the playoffs. I read a story today that may have just replaced Flutie Flakes as being the greatest thing that the Flutie legacy has brought me- his daughter, Alexa Flutie, has made the Patriots cheer leading squad.
If you're a Yankee fan, you have probably heard or participated in the infamous Roll Call. A tradition of chanting the starting lineups names, Roll Call comes from 50,000 strong in the stands every game. Do you know where this chant starts at in the stadium? How about how the chant ever started to begin with? Former Yankee legends and even celebrities have taken part in the traditions given to us by the Yankee Stadium Bleacher Creatures.
Now that ol' Monte is back up with power and internet, I thought I'd share a few photos from my home town of Philmont, NY way down in Columbia County. While I was up here with you in the Capital Region, my mom took these photos before the town was under a voluntary evacuation yesterday due to Hurricane Irene.
As a life long Yankee fan, I was thrilled when I got the chance to tour the new Yankee Stadium last week. I was fortunate enough to tour the old stadium before it was torn down and the new stadium tour was equally amazing. For less than the price of some game tickets, you can have the shot to do something not many fans can say - you can sit in the dug out!
With all of the news about Hurricane Irene catching the East Coast a little off guard, some local stores have a hard time keeping supplies on their shelves while everyone does last minute preparation for the big storm. For ol' Monte, Irene brings back memories of another major storm from my youth.
Don't have your tickets to the Carnival of Madness tour at the Times Union Center on Wednesday, August 31st yet? In fear of missing out on the likes of Alter Bridge and Theory of a Deadman? Ol' Monte and the Q-Tease have your shot at winning a free pair Friday AND Saturday!
This past weekend, I relived some of my childhood taking a small vacation at Coney Island in Brooklyn. Don't let the kiddie rides fool you, though. This little getaway in the southern part of Brooklyn, NY. has some great adult entertainment as well.
As one of you 12,138 fans that rocked out at Q-Ruption last night, it was hard to pick a favorite act. One band I was anticipating to see in person delivered in a big way last night. For me, it was Skillet that got ol' Monte tapping his foot.
Now that the NFL is in full swing and the regular season right around the corner, ol' Monte took at look at this year's odds for each team to win Super Bowl XLVI. After all of the off-season moves that teams like the Patriots and Eagles have made, seeing them at the top is no surprise, however, the early season favorites haven't panned out in recent years. The odds just may surprise you!
