Former Hudson High and UAlbany football star, Rashad Barksdale, saw his dreams come true when he made it to the NFL. Despite playing in front of 50,000 fans at once as a Kansas City Chief, Rashad has never forgotten where he came from. This past Friday, he put on a show once again in that tiny Hudson High gym when he and a few NFL stars rolled into town for a charity basketball game.
As we approach this week's big celebrity basketball game, I had the chance to catch up with the host and Hudson, NY. native, Rashad Barksdale. Rashad became the first player ever out of U Albany to make the NFL.
It happens all the time - you get a jingle stuck in your head all day. Happens to me. The worst time is when you have a local jingle you cannot stop singing and someone not from the Capital Region has no idea what the hell you're singing. Check out some of the commercials always stuck in my head!
Imagine you're walking through a hospital and you see Rambo and the Terminatorside by side in bed. What comes to mind first? "Schwarzenegger and Stallone must be filming a movie." Or, "This place is about to get torn up, ruuuuuunn!" Turns out, the action stars were actually in the hospital for surgeries at the same time and neither knew they would end up being roomies.
Last week, Ol' Monte had the pleasure of judging a signing competition at Columbia High School. The kids there have some SERIOUS talent! I can't carry a tune in a bucket. Some of these kids blew me away with their signing ability. One of the girls went out of the box rocking a New Radicals tune, a unique choice for a girl who was born just two years before the song hit the airwaves. As it turns out, the girl is a drummer for a local band you may have seen play around Albany!
As we approach the Grammy Awards tonight, ol' Monte thought about some of his favorite performances of all-time! Think of all of the acts that have graced the stage and played their biggest hits. Even bands and performers that sing a different genre that you aren't used to, could blow you away! Here is a list of my five favorite performances of all time.
As a Detroit Lion fan, I have never had a dog in the fight when it comes to the Super Bowl. None the less, I enjoy every Super Bowl party that I attend. This year, at the annual Valle shin dig, Monte and his friends will still have plenty of entertainment watching the most anticipated commercials of the year. Today, I share with you some of my favorite Super Bowl Commercials of all-time!
As we approach the big game next week between the Patriots and Gians, you may think to yourself - Damn, I'd love to live like Tom Brady. The rings, the awards, the wife. Well, now, you can! For a price. A huge price. Brady is one of a few stars unloading their mansions.
As you and I sit down today to watch the AFC and NFC championship games, a few NFL'ers who won't even be in the game, will be getting the biggest shaft of all. These guys will have that awful feeling of a wretched stomach churn when they watch two teams march to the Super Bowl later this evening.
Little Stephanie Tanner has all grown up on us, and all ol' Monte can say is - DAMN! Earlier this week, Jodie Sweetin, who grew up in front of our eyes on the sitcom, Full House, turned 30 years old. After seeing recent photos of the former child actor, I had to wipe the drool from my chin. Take a look!
While most of you were probably watching the Denver Broncos get Bradyed , ol' Monte was watching the pretty ladies. The 2012 Miss America competition was held tonight, and my girl, Miss New York, Kaitlin Monte, finished as the second runner-up. The crown will be worn by Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaeppeler.
