This weekend both the Critics Choice Movie Awards and the Golden Globes take place. The Critics Choice honors air Friday night on VH1 at 9pm while the Golden Globes are on NBC Sunday at 8pm.

Whether you are in to award show or not.  By watching or finding out who wins this weekend, could preview the Academy Awards later this year.   Some movies, actors and actresses to watch for include:  

 BLACK SWAN! Black Swan was nominated for Best Picture at the Critics Choice Awards and for Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Globes. Natalie Portman was nominated for Best Actress at both awards show for her performance in the film.  Black Swan is nominated for a total of four Golden Globes.

· THE KING’S SPEECH! Starring Colin Firth, who plays King George the Sixth in the movie landing him nominations for Best Actor at both awards shows.  The King’s Speech is also nominated in the Critics Choice and Golden Globes as Best Picture.

· INCEPTION! Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page and has been nominated for both a Critics Choice Movie Award and a Golden Globe for Best Movie.  Inception is nominated for a total of four Golden Globes.

· RED! Starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich. The action movie about retired spies has been nominated for Best Picture for this year’s Critics Choice Movie Awards.

· THE SOCIAL NETWORK! The Social Network is about the creation of Facebook. The movie, which stars Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake, has racked up Best Picture nods at both the Critics Choice and Golden Globe awards. The Social Network received a total of six Golden Globe awards.

· THE TOURIST! Starring two of the biggest stars in the world - Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. The film received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture – Musical or Comedy and each were given a nod for their performance in the movie. .

· TOY STORY 3! Toy Story 3 follows the Toy Story characters after their owner “Andy” leaves for college. The animated film, featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack received a Best Picture nomination at the Critics Choice Awards and a Best Animated Film at this year’s Globes. 

· TRUE GRIT! True Grit stars Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin.  True Grit was nominated for several Critics Choice Movie Awards, including Best Picture.

These are just some to watch out for this weekend, in between NFL playoffs.   Personally I think Toy Story 3 will win many many awards. We'll just have to see.
