Alpha and Golden Ticket BOTH Win The Travers Stakes [VIDEO]

If you bet Apha to win the Travers Stakes today - You win!  If you bet Golden Ticket to win - hey, you win too!  Wait, what?   For the first time in 143 years, there was a dead heat at the Travers Stakes in Saratoga.

At odds of 34-1, Golden Ticket wasn't exactly the overwhelming favorite to win today's Travers Stakes in Saratoga.  The talk of the town was Alpha, a heavy favorite due to the retirement of Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner, I'll Have Another and Belmont champ, Union Rags.   Gamblers licked their chops though as Golden Ticket was in the lead down the stretch.  Alpha did not sit quietly as the horses came to the finish line, the three year old kicked into top gear and the two had a finish for the ages.

As 46,528 watched the two horses race neck and neck, the finish was too close to call with the naked eye.  Jockeys David Cohen and Ramon Dominguez walked their horses back to the winners circle with no idea whom won the race.  As  everyone patiently waited, minute after minute peeled off the clock - and then, it was announced: a dead heat!

This was the first official dead heat at the Travers!  If you placed a $2.00 wager on Golden Ticket, you are now $26.80 richer.  Alpha paid out $4.10 on with the same bet.  Did you venture up and bet the ponies today?
