Sunday night was the finale of  "All American Handyman" on HGTV. Saratoga Springs native Allison Oropallo just missed winning the show by coming in third place.  Allison was one of 20 contestants selected from a pool of 3000 applicants to participate in the show which was filmed in New York City this past April.  She came up short in the final challenge where contestants had to design and build a kitchen.

All American Handyman airs on HGTV and is judged by HGTV show hosts Mike Holmes and Scott McGillivray. The judges found some fault with her kitchen but couldn't believe that this was Allison's first time designing a kitchen. Her placement of appliances earned high marks but the judges didn't like where she put the kitchen sink.   Had Allison won, she would have received a $10,000 Sears prize package and a development deal to be featured in a future HGTV show.

Allison Oropallo, 28 from Saratoga Springs earned a bachelors degree from The College of St Rose and a Master's degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She currently teaches technology education at Ottoson Middle School in Arlington Massachusetts.
