Albany’s Favorite Summer Time Foods
The people have spoken as to what their favorite summer time food is and people love them some grilling!
One thing I really like about summer in the Capital Region is the fact that you get to enjoy certain foods that you can’t really appreciate in the winter. Yesterday I polled our Q103 listeners on the facebook page to see what summer time food they loved the best was hamburgers. Can’t say I blame everyone, because getting a hot juicy burger off of the grill is something I look forward to every single year. I even jumped the gun a little bit and already grilled myself up some fresh burgers. Such a great idea.
Once the weather gets really nice I can grill whenever I want. Steak came in second place and hot dogs a distant third. I have to say I was a little disappointed in the performance of hot dogs on the list because they have always been one of my favorites. It’s all in how you eat them. You have to put on the right toppings. Personally I prefer some meat sauce (preferably Hot Dog Charlies sauce) some diced onions and a little mustard. Heaven in a bun my friend. But then again I am a hot dog connoisseur.
So besides the ones on the poll there are still so many other summer time foods that i have neglected. What about fair food? Kettle corn and fried dough, yum. Can’t forget places like Brooks BBQ. Now the actual restaurant is located outside of the Capital Region in Oneonta but they travel around so you can bet that you will be able to get some of that sweet BBQ chicken at some point.
BBQ and summer go hand in hand. I do some home BBQing in the winter time at home but it’s just not the same. Hanging outside, drinking a beer and flipping some awesome meaty concoction just says summer. It’s not even May yet and I think I have grilled at least 3 times. I can’t wait for it to be warm everyday so I can break out the coals as often as possible.
