It's my first post to all of you readers and listeners as the Q103 Rock Girl of 2017 and I am beyond excited to be stepping into the role. I cannot wait for the opportunities, good music, and fun that this coming year brings!

My first stop as the Q103 Rock Girl was getting to check out the Garage Session featuring Beartooth on Friday. It's not everyday that you get to watch a rock band pare down and do an intimate acoustic set, so I felt beyond lucky to be a part of this. For those who aren't too familiar with Beartooth's music, they fit into a heavy rock genre, with a mix of melodies and grit. As a band that's fairly new in the rock scene- with their debut album coming out only two years ago- they've really made a name for themselves and have shared the stage with some heavy hitters in the current rock scene like Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon.

For their current tour, Beartooth has been hitting the road with Every Time I Die and Fit For a King, and we were lucky enough to have them in the area for a stop at Upstate Concert Hall.  All three of these bands have new album releases out [Every Time I Die: Low Teens, Fit For a King: Deathgrip], and have been bringing everything they've got to the stage.  The 'Aggressive Tour' itself is aptly named after Beartooth's new album "Aggressive."

As the band sound-checked, I got a chance to GO LIVE on the Q103 Facebook page and talk a little about the band, the soundcheck, and my ridiculous excitement for the show. As for the Garage Session itself, the guys of Beartooth played a two-song acoustic set for a lucky group of people, had a Q&A session, and followed that with some great 'Meet & Greet' photos. Lead singer Caleb Shomo was spot on as he performed, surrounded by a great blend of guitars, and they definitely did not disappoint. During the Q&A, the band answered questions on topics ranging from serious to fun, such as their musical influences (with an emphasis on AC/DC) and shows they'd want to guest-star on. Not only did we get a great performance, but we got a few laughs too.

All in all, I had a great time, and want to extend a huge thank you to all of the listeners and voters out there for giving me this phenomenal opportunity!  Here's to a rocking year!
