Sunday night is Hollywood's night to shine with the 84th Academy Awards, 8pm on ABC.  Billy Crystal is set to host.  This year, there are a record nine films up for Best Picture, many of them you probably haven't seen or even heard of. However, there is a common thread to the films nominated which include the country France.

THE ARTIST -

A silent FRENCH movie - and this is supposedly the front runner.

HUGO -

A film directed by Oscar nominated Martin Scorsese set in FRANCE!

MIDNIGHT IN PARIS -

yep another film set in FRANCE!

WARHORSE -

Directed by Steven Speilberg and takes place during the war in FRANCE!

TREE OF LIFE-

Starring Oscar nominated Brad Pitt, it is not FRENCH!! I bet the french loved it though with no plot.

THE DESCENDANTS-

A comedy up for Best Picture? - Holy S! Starring Oscar nominated George Clooney. This film is NOT FRENCH!

MONEYBALL -

Another movie with Oscar nominated Brad Pitt and its about the Oakland A's. Yep, that won't win.

THE HELP -

Starring Emma Stone is a heartwarming film set in the 1960's during the civil rights movement.

EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE -

A film about 9-11 that is not really about 9-11 and probably the saddest movie ever. Starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock.
